Tom's Family...

Tom and Cheryl Chasteen with their grandson, Jonathan, and their children Jim, Kelly, Jon, Trenton, and Joy Anna.

Tom and Cheryl Chasteen both grew up in Franklin County, GA – Tom is from Lavonia and Cheryl is from Royston. They graduated from Franklin County High School and are high school sweethearts who married in 1969 - after Tom’s tour of duty with the US Army and insurance profession was beginning in Athens and Cheryl’s graduation from UGA with a degree in elementary education.

They are active members of Tuckston United Methodist Church where they have served in several leadership positions over the past 30 years. They served jointly as Youth Coordinators for 10 years. Most recently, Tom chaired the New Building Committee where the successful completion of renovations and additions to the building allow for improved service to the church’s membership as well as to the various groups in the community who use the facilities on a regular basis.

Cheryl has been an elementary teacher for the Clark County School District for the past 16 years. She is currently teaching with a terrific team of administrators, faculty and staff at Whitehead Road Elementary School.

They have three children who are authentic “Athenians”: Jim, Jon, and Joy Anna. All three children attended public schools in Clarke County and graduated from Cedar Shoals High School.

Joy Anna is currently a student at UGA and will graduate with a degree in Speech Communication.
