Dear Friends:

I wanted to take a moment and thank everyone for all of their hard work on the Team Chasteen campaign to become Mayor of Athens-Clarke County!  The enthusiasm was absolutely amazing and I sincerely appreciate the countless hours provided by Team Chasteen volunteers who put up yard signs, knocked on doors, and provided the financial contributions that helped get our message out to the community.  It has been a special time for me as we had the opportunity to promote our message of economic opportunity, protecting our environment, ensuring our community has quality neighborhoods and using balance as the tool to do so.

I am going to take the first time off in over 16 years of public service to the residents of Athens-Clarke County to reflect on the next steps for Team Chasteen.  I am also excited to be able to spend quality time with my partner in life Cheryl, my children Jim, Jon, and Joy Anna, daughters-in-law Kelly and Trenton, and our grandchild Jonathan! 

Once again thanks for a great run.  It feels so good to know that there are many people out in the community who feel the same as you do about quality government.  I feel honored and humbled to be able to serve the residents of our community since the inception of the unified government of Athens-Clarke County.
